under contract
When a purchase offer for a property has been accepted by the seller it is said to be "under contract". Generally, the buyer is given a certain period of time in which to perform inspections, feasibility studies and finalize financing arrangements. During the time the seller cannot entertain offers from other buyers until the day of the closing or a predetermined date in the contract.
